| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Bulged outer plates with Step processed chrome hardened rivet pins. Chamfered inner side plates for fast, smooth, quiet shifts. Chains are all SRAM and Shimano compatible. The higher the model number the greater the load capacity and finish. 9sp gold PowerLink connector opens and closes without tools. Save an additional 5+% on 25/box bulk chains with connectors (no aftermarket packaging).

| Customer Reviews: Excellent chain, but expensive January 11, 2010 Casey Anderson (Washington, DC United States) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have tried a couple of the lower-priced SRAM chains, and I have experienced problems with shifting, cassette wear, etc. I have been using the 991 on a mountain bike and a touring bike for about 6 months, and I have not had these problems with either bike. I don't know whether the 990 is any good, but I avoided it after my earlier [...]. I also have found the Shimano HG-93 chain (XT level) reliable but like the powerlink system used by SRAM, which allows you to take the chain off for cleaning and put it back on without a new link pin or chain tool.
991 vs. 991 Cross-step July 13, 2009 Jeremy N. Shank (Richmond, VA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've noticed no performance difference between the two. In the future, I'll likely stick with the lower priced 991.
